This is a lovely small vintage wooden book rack stamped Crowned ER. The base is stamped Crown ER FTH9 Enham 1960. It is free standing rack with two end panels, back panel and a slightly sloping base shelf. The wood is oak and has a lovely warm patina. Furniture branded with "Crowned E.R." denoted that it was British military or British government property.
The item was made at the Enham furniture workshop at Enham village in Hampshire, England. Part of what was originally called the "Enham Village Centre" -a rehabilitation settlement for injured soldiers returning from World War I, especially those blinded by mustard gas, and which is still in operation today under the name "Enham Trust". The post-World War II production was branded uniformly with the Crowned ER.
It is in fairly good vintage condition, there are some marks and knocks to the wood. This little book rack has vintage charm. Please see pictures.
